Types of Chinese Food
Chinese food delivery is very distinct based on the region it comes from. Many people outside of China do not even realize this fact. The differences are the result of many years of distinct differences in the way the cultures of the different regions of china developed over the centuries. These differences included distinct ingredients used for the food based on what was available locally to how climate differences made different Chinese delivery foods more in demand. From a basic perspective Chinese food delivery can be categorized into four main regions. This is not a truly complete list but it does give the general idea.
Cantonese – This is the type of Chinese food delivery that comes from the southern regions of the country. This type of food has become very popular in the United States. This type of cuisine makes use of a wonderful collection of vegetables and meats. The spices are also considered a favorite. Rice is very popular in this region because of the climate. It is popular for food to be stir fried in this region. This allows the Chinese food delivery to be prepared very quickly. Many people know of the sweet and sour style dishes. This is the region where it all began.
Beijing – This is not only the capital of the noble Chinese people and home to almost 20 million people, it is also home to the traditional northern style of Chinese food. Since this region is much further to the north it does not allow for rice to grow properly. In this region wheat grows much better. They will take this wheat and turn it into noodles. Another popular use for the wheat in this region is making dumplings. This region uses a lot of spices in their food. You should not be surprised if you find onion and garlic. Other favorites include soy sauce or the oyster flavored fish sauce. Since this is the capital of China it has many influences in the cuisine. Don’t forget to try the world famous Peking duck. It is wonderful.
Now we move our sights to the east. In the east you have the Shanghai cuisine. This type of Chinese food delivery utilizes a unique mix in its food. Shanghai is located on the coast and uses a lot of seafood in the creation of local delicacies as well. They also like the food a little on the sweet side and will include sugar in the combination of foods. Out of this region you can find a number of sweet pastries to sink your taste buds into. They have a unique way of making meatballs which includes minced pork and cured ham. It is very tasty indeed if I may say so myself.
Last but not least we move onto the western part of China. This type of Chinese food delivery is also known to people all over the world as Szechwan Chinese food. This style of Chinese food likes to include the very spicy and hot peppers that can break a sweet in all of us. They also have very mild and tasty dishes like a smoked chicken utilizing tea leaves. The pepper used in this region even has its own name it’s called Szechwan pepper. They have a unique sort of curry powder that mixes and matches wonderful flavors in the cuisine. Don’t forget to try the hot and sour soup. It is very tasty and uses on the freshest ingredients.
